Recent Projects

Greenway Commons, Southington, Connecticut: This project is a classic example of the redevelopment of a post industrial facility into an extension of a vibrant community where all stakeholders benefit. Formerly a stainless steel manufacturing facility, this property was the main generator of jobs in the area and fueled the growth of Southington. When the property went into bankruptcy in 2001, the property became an abandoned brownfield, and was left to deteriorate. Meridian purchased the property out of bankruptcy and began the redevelopment process. The community supported the project and approved the creation of a redevelopment zone that allowed for residential and retail use. This smart growth project is an extension of the town’s main street and will become a continuation of the investment the town has made to revitalize its downtown. Key to the projects success was the engagement of the local business community who unanimously supported the project.

PennHouse Commons, Lewisburg, Pennsylvania: Meridian wil support the local Lewisburg merchants by embarking on a program to bring complementary businesses to the area. The adjacent park was enhanced by the town’s support of a local manufacturer of outdoor play equipment who was given the opportunity to use the park as a working display of their equipment. Meridian intends to support this successful community benefit by including additional recreation areas adjacent to the park. The property is also bordered by a proposed ‘rails to trails’ pathway which Meridian intends to incorporate into the master plan to further enhance this public investment and extension of the neighborhood.
